Hobby Classes to Learn Pottery

Catch a glimpse of Pottery Classes and Workshops happening at our clay studio for teenagers and adults. Here students learn the art of making pottery using Hand building techniques. We do not use moulds and machines. Our ideas is to make you independent enough to pursue this art anytime anywhere without depending on advance tools and machines.

During the course, students learn the process of preparing terracotta clay, understand the nature of clay, how it behaves, how to smoothen, pamper, and shape clay in a right way. We teach various handbuilding pottery making and surface decoration techniques to students and guide them in creating independent clay projects using their own visual thoughts.

Lot of people inquire if we use ceramic powder or Lamasa clay. The answer is  NO. We teach real pottery...the one our potters make. The only exception is we do not teach wheel work...we teach handbuilding pottery, which helps you making tiles, wall hanging, Masks, tealight lamps, vases, pen holders, flowers and lots more!! Visit our STUDENTS' WORK section for a glimpse of clay work we teach.
Our course is designed in such a way that both creative and non creative people can learn this art and easily pursue it as a hobby. The regular handbuilding pottery classes are open for teenagers and women of all age group. For students, who are not sure if this is the right course for them or not, can take up our one day workshop and can later club it with our regular classes if they decide to take up the full course. Our studio is located in Sector 21 Noida and the nearest metro station is just 2.5 km away (Sector 16 Noida).

For complete course details, we would request you to call us or take a prior appointment to visit our studio. We would love to explain you about different courses and help you understand this art in more detail.
Happy Claying :)

Handmade with Love

Few weeks back, a young girl called me to book a pottery workshop. She sent me a picture of lamp that she wanted to create for her fiancĂ©e. It was a beautiful cube shaped lamp made of MDF wood with hearts carved on three walls. The special thing about this lamp was that on fourth wall a name was beautifully carved  (Laser Cut).

She wanted to create similar lamp with Clay with just initials and few hearts. The idea was when lamp will be lit, the name of the person should be reflected on the wall. So we opted for mirror writing wherein alphabets are written from right to left and are reversed too.

She finally made a beautiful lamp with her sheer dedication and hardwork (inspite of being little unwell). I was happy that she could make what she aspired for and that too in such short period of time. She inspired me soo much that now even I want to surprise my hubby with a similar love lamp ;)

Pottery Workshop at BBIS, Dwarka

Claying Thoughts recently organized a 2-Day skill based pottery workshop at BBIS Dwarka for a group of 80 students. The workshop was designed to introduce handbuilding pottery techniques to students and enable them to independently create clay objects using the techniques taught to them.
The students were introduced to pottery process and different clay handling techniques. Handbuilding techniques were demonstrated to them for making pots and other decoration items, such as hangings and masks. Students were encouraged to add their own creativity to make their pottery piece unique. Surprisingly, most of the students were touching clay for the first time but they were surely handling it like a pro.
Thank you BBIS for making us a part of this creative endeavor. A sincere thanks to teachers for their great support and special kudos to the group of exceptionally creative and well behaved bunch of students :) Bhavanites….you ROCK!!
Take a look at few moments I captured through my lens. Don't miss the special art room decoration right from the ceiling to the walls around. It was such an inspiring decor and well conceptualized.

Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi 2016

Ganesh Chaturthi fever has started gripping the country. And of course it is gripping me too. This year, I have also started the preparations for clay Ganesha idols much in advance. Last year, there were plenty of inquiries for buying clay Ganesha from people across Delhi NCR and various other parts of the country including overseas :)
So, this year we have opened the bookings for ecofriendly clay Ganesha much in advance. We create each piece with lot of love and do not use molds as we do not believe in factory mode. This is the reason we make exclusive Ganesha idols. Here are couple of Ganesha sculpted in the past. Looking forward to creating bigger and even better idols.

Like last year, we are also organizing eco-friendly Ganesha Idol workshop for people who wish to learn sculpting basic ganesha sculpture with their own hands. The Ganpati idol making workshop will be organized in studio, schools, colleges, corporate offices, community center, and events. We use wet terrracotta clay that is natural and can be easily dissolved in the water upon immersion.

Devotees can perform ganesh visarjan at home as well in a clean bucket full of water. Read our previous blogpost on same to see the steps to do visarjan at home.

Happy Festivities
