Day2: Miniature Ganesha Idol Series

Ganesha idol
So here is the second member of my mini Ganesha idol series. This one is slight close to our very own traditional ganesha idol but making a miniature sculpture is far difficult than the bigger pieces. it requires lot of intricate handling and precision...sometimes its difficult to bend your fingers to bring that final finishing!! But thoroughly enjoyed my first venture with miniature series. Now the big question...what next??
Happy Ganesha Week

Day1: Miniature Ganesha Idol Series

Miniature Ganpati SculptureGanesha Idols have always fascinated me and im sure it must be your favorite too. The best thing about Ganesha idols is that you feel like having more and more in your house and the same i feel too.

So, on this Ganesh Chaturthi, I thought of making a series of miniature Ganesha Idols and that too contemporary form.....something different from our usual bappa idol every day till Ganesh Visarjan day.
It was definitely a challenge for me as thinking a new form every day and that too strikingly different.

So here I am with my first creation in the series of Mini Terracotta Ganpati Idols. I have placed a toothpick to show you its real size. Hope you like this and my rest of series too....

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi :)

Hand Textured Terracotta Coasters

Last year, I experimented making terracotta roller stamps as I really wanted to try new texture stamps with unique designs. So, I made my personal stamps on terracotta clay with some vague ideas and bisque fired them. All the coasters shown below are handcut and carefully textured with those stamps I made in studio. So this one is 100% handmade!!

One interesting fact about terracotta coasters is that they absorb the extra water or tea droplets from the bottom of cups and doesn't let liquid spill over the table, unlike wooden or plastic coasters.
So Go Earthy...make or buy terracotta coasters.
Happy Claying!!
